Accountant (Restaurant & QuickBooks Online)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with restaurant and QuickBooks Online experience to join our remote team. You will support our hospitality clients by maintaining accurate financial records and delivering timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all financial records in QuickBooks Online, categorizing expenses and maintaining the general ledger.
• Reconcile daily POS sales reports with cash deposits, credit‑card payouts, and delivery‑app transactions.
• Process vendor invoices, track accounts payable, and ensure timely payments.
• Monitor restaurant‑specific metrics such as food & beverage COGS and labor costs.
• Perform month‑end bank and credit‑card reconciliations and generate basic profit & loss statements for owners/managers.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in the restaurant/hospitality sector.
• Strong, practical experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Familiarity with connecting QBO to restaurant POS systems (e.g., Toast, Clover, Square) is a plus.
• Ability to work independently as an independent contractor, available 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday‑Friday.
