Civil/Wharf Marine Construction Engineer

About the role

APM Terminals is expanding its terminal in Lázaro Cárdenas, México and seeks a Civil/Wharf Marine Construction Engineer to lead the design and delivery of quay walls, berths and related marine infrastructure. The role combines on‑site construction leadership with coordination of design packages and stakeholder management to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review and manage design packages for civil works, including Employer’s Requirements, FEED, tender and detailed designs.
• Lead on‑site construction activities for quay and marine infrastructure.
• Coordinate consultants, contractors and internal asset managers (Automation, Equipment, Electrical, IT).
• Ensure compliance with APM Terminals safety standards and promote continuous safety improvement.
• Implement project controls, track progress against schedules, and propose corrective actions.
• Manage scope, schedule and budget changes in collaboration with Project Controls.
• Deliver project outputs such as design submissions, as‑built documentation and O&M manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in civil engineering and marine construction projects.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale port or terminal infrastructure works.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and project risk management.
