Manager, Exam Management

About the role

American Express is seeking a Manager, Exam Management to embed control management within daily operations of its Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) unit. The role will work across multiple business units, functional areas and geographies to ensure operational risk and regulatory exam processes are effectively managed.

Key responsibilities

• Advise business units on execution plans for operational risk management, including guidelines and project plans.
• Facilitate integration of regulatory changes into the operational risk framework and related training materials.
• Project‑manage internal and external exam processes, coordinating data requests, action implementation and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain standardized exam management procedures, clarifying roles, responsibilities and accountability throughout the exam lifecycle.
• Support the operational risk framework by identifying risk themes from exams, translating findings into risk statements and control considerations.
• Assist in creating BU‑specific procedures and escalation protocols for operational risk management programs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational risk, governance or regulatory exam management within a financial services environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with ability to work across multiple functions and geographies.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities to translate regulatory findings into actionable risk statements.
• Project management experience, including planning, execution and stakeholder coordination.
