Seat Trim Engineer – Automotive Interiors

About the role

The Seat Trim Engineer owns the design, development and release of all seat‑trim variants for a vehicle program. You will work with leather, textiles and stitching processes, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure cost, quality and schedule targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Design and release seat‑trim components (leather, fabric, stitching, etc.).
• Manage and control trim system costs and BOM activities.
• Lead technical and commercial discussions with suppliers.
• Ensure program milestone compliance (GPDS) and coordinate with seat system engineering.
• Perform root‑cause analysis for trim‑related issues.
• Oversee manufacturing processes such as cut & sew and lamination.
• Support validation, testing and material specification activities.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives (5D, 8D, cost reduction).
• Travel to plants and supplier sites as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 + years experience in automotive interiors or seat‑trim development.
• Familiarity with BOM release systems (e.g., WERS, AVBOM).
• Understanding of leather and textile manufacturing processes and cut & sew operations.
• Experience with cost tracking, material validation and quality methodologies (Green Belt, 5D, 8D).
• Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.
