Software Engineer II – Embedded Controls

About the role

Genie is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Controls System Engineering group. You will design and develop embedded software that drives safety‑critical hydraulic and electrical systems for a range of aerial work platforms and material handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded C/C++ software for complex control systems.
• Participate in specification, design reviews, and testing at all development stages, including hands‑on machine testing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, present ideas, and communicate engineering concepts.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 2+ years of production‑quality C/C++ development experience.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design and real‑time embedded operating systems.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, switches, sensors, and control modules.
• Commitment to robust software through code reviews, unit testing, and TDD.
