Transport & Customs Expert (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Transport & Customs Expert for a six‑month temporary assignment to ensure full compliance with import and export regulations and to coordinate international shipments across air, ocean and land modes. The role supports our global supply chain, focusing on the automotive sector and companies operating under the IMMEX program.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee customs compliance for all import and export operations, applying relevant regulations, programs and certifications.
• Manage and coordinate international shipments, optimizing cost, timing and documentation accuracy.
• Follow up on internal and external foreign‑trade audits and authority requirements (SAT, Ministry of Economy).
• Evaluate and oversee performance of customs brokers, freight forwarders and logistics providers.
• Validate customs entries, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and other supporting documents.
• Perform rules‑of‑origin calculations and material integration for automotive customers, ensuring USMCA and other trade‑agreement compliance.
• Monitor logistics and customs KPIs, proposing improvements to reduce time, cost and risk.
• Handle logistics incidents (delays, holds, damages, documentation discrepancies) and coordinate resolutions.
• Provide accurate information to business units for strategic decision‑making.
• Participate in cost‑optimization projects, process automation and standardisation of global best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Foreign Trade, Customs, International Relations or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in a similar role within the automotive industry, advanced manufacturing or IMMEX‑operating companies.
• Strong analytical thinking, compliance orientation and results‑driven mindset.

• Export and import processes (ordinary, temporary, definitive, returns, transfers)

• Management of freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, airlines and ground carriers
• International logistics (ocean, air, land, multimodal)
• Customs clearance, tariff classification, valuation criteria and supporting documentation
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Logistics risk management, cargo insurance and transportation KPIs
• Certifications such as OEA, CTPAT, APICS (optional but advantageous)
