Software Engineer, Android

About the role

Lyft is looking for an Android Software Engineer to join the Rider team. You will help build and improve the mobile experience for millions of riders, working on a product that connects passengers with drivers in real time.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of the Rider Android application.
• Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and product needs.
• Write well‑crafted, well‑tested, readable, maintainable code.
• Analyze internal systems and processes to identify improvement and automation opportunities.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to execute on projects.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and share knowledge.
• Give brown‑bag sessions, tech talks and promote engineering best practices.
• Lead large projects from idea to successful execution and support internal partners.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Ability to work in a low‑ego, highly collaborative, cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Kotlin programming language.
• Jetpack Compose and declarative UI development.
• Experience building shared UI components.
• Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Understanding of unidirectional and reactive programming paradigms.
