Local IT Specialist

About the role

As a member of the Plant IT Team, you will be responsible for maintaining the local network and IT hardware/software that support the manufacturing floor. You will act as the primary administrator for communication and business systems, providing day‑to‑day support to plant users.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 troubleshooting for shop‑floor and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 2/3 support and manage support tickets via the Stratos Help Desk.
• Perform server disk‑space management, OS patching and backup verification.
• Diagnose and replace hardware components; set up and distribute desktops/laptops.
• Support users with Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and PC‑related queries.
• Execute basic network troubleshooting and periodic failover/failback of shop‑floor systems.
• Maintain the local IT budget and keep IT management informed of changes.
• Participate in daily plant management meetings and communicate status updates.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent certifications, or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience troubleshooting IT issues in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse plant workforce.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows (Win 7, Win 10) and Server operating systems (2008, 2012, 2016).
• Microsoft Office 2016 and Office 365.
• PC hardware and network server knowledge.
• Cisco VoIP and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Stratos Help Desk ticketing system.
