Operations Director – Automotive Manufacturing

About the role

The Operations Director will lead the plant’s operational excellence, overseeing production, quality, supply chain, maintenance, and EHS. This hands‑on leader will drive continuous improvement and ensure the plant meets production, quality, and delivery targets.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and on‑time delivery.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Manage the plant’s operating budget, control costs, and enhance profitability.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards (IATF 16949, ISO 14001) and customer‑specific requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a cross‑functional management team.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with Mexican labor and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with supply chain to maintain optimal inventory and timely raw‑material availability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior plant leadership role within the Tier‑1 automotive parts industry.
• Deep knowledge of automotive core tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) and IATF 16949 standards.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (Mandarin a plus).
• Proven ability to manage large teams, work with labor unions, and drive positive employee relations in Mexico.
• Highly analytical, data‑driven decision maker.
