Senior Buyer – Transport & Logistics

About the role

The Senior Buyer – Transport & Logistics is responsible for managing complex logistics categories, overseeing the full procurement lifecycle from requirement definition to payment assurance. The role combines strategic sourcing, operational execution and cross‑functional leadership to drive supplier performance, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end sourcing activities (RFI/RFQ/RFP) for logistics services.
• Translate business requirements into sourcing strategies and contracting approaches.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiation and contract development.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost and delivery performance.
• Conduct business reviews, monitor KPIs and handle commercial negotiations.
• Lead escalation handling to ensure service continuity with critical suppliers.
• Ensure contract compliance, audit readiness and support SOX and procurement compliance processes.
• Oversee purchase order creation, payment validation and procurement governance.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks such as capacity constraints and cost volatility.
• Monitor market trends and drive cost‑saving initiatives and innovation.
• Collaborate closely with operations, finance, legal and supply‑chain teams.
• Mentor junior buyers and promote a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement of logistics or transport services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the full procurement lifecycle from sourcing to payment.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Familiarity with contract compliance, SOX and audit processes.
• Capability to assess and mitigate supply‑chain risks.
• Experience working cross‑functionally with operations, finance and legal teams.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior buyers.
