Design Engineer – Instrument Panel & Console Floor (Remote)

About the role

Join Capgemini Engineering as a Design Engineer focused on interior vehicle systems. You will work remotely to support the design and development of instrument panels and floor consoles, ensuring they meet technical specifications, cost targets, and quality standards throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze technical specifications, engineering drawings, CAD data, and Bills of Material for instrument panels and floor consoles.
• Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, vehicle programs, and suppliers to support RFQs, engineering changes, technical reviews, and benchmarking activities.
• Develop basic to intermediate costing and "Should Cost" analyses, evaluating the impact of design decisions, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical and cost input for supplier negotiations, cost‑gap analysis, and commodity strategy development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering or technical design, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Experience designing interior systems such as instrument panels, floor consoles, or interior trim components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong interest in costing activities; exposure to cost analysis or should‑cost models is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
