HR Manager – US & Canada

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking an HR Manager responsible for supporting employees and leaders across the United States and Canada. The role partners with line managers to deliver HR strategies that align with business priorities while ensuring compliance with Wärtsilä policies and local labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations, providing guidance and fostering an inclusive work environment.
• Partner with line managers on investigations, engagement actions, discipline, and terminations, ensuring compliance with all related processes.
• Facilitate performance and rewards processes, guiding managers and employees through annual cycles.
• Facilitate compensation and benefits processes and support related activities.
• Support HR governance and compliance activities, including audits, internal controls, and risk management across the USA and Canada.
• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and local handbooks remain up‑to‑date and are effectively communicated.
• Support organizational change initiatives such as restructures, role changes, workforce transitions, and redesign.
• Coach managers in effective change management and communication practices.
• Collaborate with People Services, People Support Hub, Talent Acquisition, and HR Centers of Excellence to deliver consistent HR solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role covering the United States and Canada.
• Strong knowledge of US and Canadian labour legislation and HR compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to handle employee relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
• Experience facilitating performance management, compensation and benefits processes.
• Ability to support organizational change and restructure initiatives.
• Excellent partnership skills with line managers and cross‑functional HR teams.
