Senior Energy Regulatory Attorney (Remote, Part‑time)

About the role

Micro1 is seeking a senior energy regulatory attorney to join its team on a part‑time, remote basis. You will apply expert regulatory judgment to advanced AI‑driven workflows that support energy permitting, site control, and generator interconnection projects across PJM and adjacent East Coast markets. The role focuses on legal review rather than traditional litigation or client counseling.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior‑level legal review and final validation of site‑control, interconnection, and permitting documentation for utility‑scale solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, and large‑load projects.
• Assess project materials for compliance with PJM generator interconnection procedures, queue‑readiness expectations, site‑control requirements, and FERC‑regulated processes.
• Review escalated issues flagged by Tier 1 reviewers, including incomplete site‑control evidence, inconsistent filings, unclear permitting status, or potential compliance gaps.
• Deliver concise legal findings, risk flags, and structured determinations for client‑facing review workflows.
• Contribute to the improvement of review rubrics, issue‑spotting guidelines, and decision frameworks used by lower‑tier reviewers.

Required profile

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8 + years of legal experience in energy regulatory, power, infrastructure, or related practice.
• Direct experience with PJM interconnection processes, including generator interconnection requests, queue participation, site‑control, and readiness requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of FERC‑regulated transmission and generation interconnection frameworks.
• Ability to provide practical legal judgment in a structured review environment.
