Assembly Technician – Conformal Coating

About the role

The Assembly Technician (Conformal Coating) performs coating processes on electronic assemblies to protect products and ensure reliability. The role involves masking, applying, curing, demasking, inspecting, and reworking coated PCBs according to work instructions and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Mask and demask printed circuit boards using tapes, boots, and custom fixtures.
• Apply conformal coating via dip, selective, or manual brush methods.
• Execute touch‑up and rework to meet workmanship standards.
• Inspect coated assemblies for coverage, thickness, bubbles, bridging and other defects using UV light and magnification tools.
• Maintain a clean, ESD‑controlled work area and follow proper curing processes.
• Handle materials and chemicals safely in compliance with EHS guidelines.
• Complete documentation and traceability tasks such as process logs and batch records.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost quality, efficiency and yield.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic technology or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in electronics assembly or conformal coating.
• Ability to read work instructions, engineering drawings and process specifications.
• Team‑oriented with effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Conformal coating techniques: masking, dip coating, spray/manual coating, demasking, touch‑up.
• Inspection tools: UV lamps, microscopes, thickness gauges, calipers.
• Knowledge of coating materials (acrylic, silicone, urethane, epoxy) and handling requirements.
• Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7711/7721).
• Understanding of curing methods (thermal, UV, moisture cure) and ESD handling.
