Automation Engineer – On‑Site Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated production systems across our manufacturing sites. This on‑site position will support projects that boost efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement automated systems for diverse manufacturing environments.
• Develop improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining, and inspection processes.
• Create and manage maintenance programs for equipment.
• Oversee equipment purchase, installation, and equipment Bill of Materials.
• Lead collaborative discussions with local and senior management to define automation goals.
• Develop detailed roadmaps from concept to final implementation.
• Support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades.
• Lead end‑to‑end functional testing of devices, HMIs, control rooms, and data off‑taker facilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s a plus).
• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience designing automation assembly machinery.
• Proficiency with PLC hardware selection and programming.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo).
• Experience integrating pneumatics, electric actuators/servos, sensors, and safety components.
• Working knowledge of machine design elements such as linear motion components, bearings, cams, springs, gearboxes, couplings, and fasteners.
• Experience designing precision tooling and fixturing.
• Effective written and oral communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish.
