Backend Engineer – AI Solutions (Remote, Mexico)

About the role

Avahi is looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable backend systems that power AI‑driven solutions for large enterprises. The role is remote‑first and open only to candidates residing in Mexico.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance backend services for document retrieval, processing pipelines and AI integrations.
• Write clean, composable code that isolates I/O and infrastructure concerns, emphasizing correctness and maintainability.
• Develop well‑defined APIs for serving machine‑learning models, vector databases and embedding services with deterministic execution.
• Architect systems for AI training, simulation and inference workloads, ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
• Create internal tools and dashboards to monitor backend behavior and enforce system invariants.
• Implement automation, logging, metrics and tracing to enable rapid diagnosis of performance issues.
• Contribute to internal tooling and open‑source projects, producing reusable Python libraries that integrate with AWS and generative AI workflows.

Required profile

• Strong background in backend engineering with a focus on scalable, cloud‑native architectures.
• Passion for solving complex problems at the intersection of software and AI.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, remote environment.

Required skills

• Python programming.
