Customs Analyst I

About the role

The Customs Analyst I supports Valeo’s international trade operations by ensuring accurate classification, documentation, and compliance with customs regulations. Working closely with brokers and the supply‑chain team, the analyst guarantees that import and export declarations meet legal requirements and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the customs instruction database, including tariffs, suspension rules, preferential origin and customs value information.
  • Perform product classification (BTI, suspension, preferential origin) and prepare all import/export documentation such as invoices, packing lists and bills of lading.
  • Communicate daily with customs brokers to verify declaration compliance and resolve discrepancies.
  • Execute import and export declarations once administrative authorisations are received.
  • Validate broker submissions against customs instructions, invoices, transport documents and origin certificates.
  • Organise efficient document filing and ensure traceability of customs and accounting data within the ERP system.
  • Operate customs regimes and authorisations in line with governmental requests, archiving supplier long‑term declarations in the ERP.
  • Report discrepancies to the customs manager and apply Valeo’s quality tools (PDCA/FTA) for corrective actions.
  • Support the supply‑chain team in shipment activities and provide performance visibility through key operational indicators.
  • Participate in continuous‑improvement workshops and assist in preparing the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification.
  • Contribute to the Group Ethics & Compliance program by adhering to Valeo’s code of ethics and policies.

Required profile

  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification and import/export procedures.
  • Experience working with customs brokers and handling international trade documentation.
  • Ability to work with ERP systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
