Cybersecurity Engineer – Zero Trust & Automation

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Cybersecurity Engineer to join NOV’s Security Architecture & Engineering team. You will help protect our global operations by designing, automating, and deploying zero‑trust controls across both IT and OT environments.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage AI/ML or LLM‑based tools to speed up detection, enrich investigations, and automate real‑time response.
• Automate repetitive security tasks using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to reduce manual effort.
• Deploy and manage identity, cloud, endpoint, and network security solutions such as Okta, SentinelOne, and Zscaler.
• Implement and maintain security configurations in Azure, AWS, and hybrid clouds following zero‑trust and least‑privilege principles.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing actionable security recommendations.
• Conduct technical risk assessments using frameworks like NIST CSF and recommend corrective controls.
• Review cloud, network, and firewall change requests for policy compliance.
• Research emerging threats, tools, and best practices to shape NOV’s defensive strategy.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (cloud, infrastructure, identity, OT) to embed security into projects and daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English.
• Self‑directed, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a large enterprise.
• Experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or cloud security engineering.
• Familiarity with identity and access management platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation or data handling.
• Solid understanding of network security, endpoint hardening, and cloud‑native controls.
• Experience conducting technical risk assessments or design evaluations.
• Interest in AI‑assisted security workflows.
