Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Ensenada team, focusing on elastomer components and sealing systems for automotive and industrial applications. The role combines CAD design, simulation, and product development to deliver high‑quality parts.

Key responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks (surfacing, configurations, drafting standards).
• Develop and validate designs through CAE simulations (Abaqus, Ansys, HyperWorks, OptiStruct, Nastran).
• Select appropriate elastomer materials (EPDM, NBR, FKM, Silicone) and define molding processes (compression, transfer, injection).
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5/ISO 1101 and perform basic tolerance analysis.
• Support APQP/PPAP documentation, DFMEA linkage, and dimensional results in an IATF 16949 environment.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, CAD Technology or equivalent.
• Experience with elastomer products, sealing systems, or automotive applications.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with AE, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.
• Fluent English; Spanish proficiency preferred.

• SolidWorks (expert level)
• CATIA (plus)

• Knowledge of elastomer materials and rubber molding processes
• GD&T (ASME Y14.5, ISO 1101) and tolerance analysis
• Familiarity with APQP/PPAP, DFMEA, IATF 16949 standards
