Desktop Support Specialist

About the role

The Desktop Support Specialist provides first‑line technical assistance to end‑users, ensuring that computers, peripherals and network services operate smoothly. You will work closely with employees to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and maintain the IT inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems for end‑users.
• Perform break/fix repairs on desktops, laptops, printers and other peripherals.
• Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software applications.
• Respond to support requests via ticketing system, email or phone.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software and spare parts.
• Escalate complex issues to higher‑level IT support when required.
• Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Proven experience in desktop support or a break/fix role.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic networking concepts.
• Familiarity with hardware components and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with remote support tools (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional (preferred).
