Director of Finance

About the role

The Director of Finance will lead the finance function for a luxury lifestyle resort in Mexico's wine country. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with ownership and the corporate office, the role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger reconciliation, monthly and quarterly tax filings, and timely financial statements.
• Manage year‑end closings, balance‑sheet analysis, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Develop and enforce internal financial policies, procedures, and controls.
• Collaborate with property management to identify revenue‑maximizing and cost‑reducing opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including GDPR for guest and personnel data.
• Lead the finance team and support pre‑opening and renovation budget projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in hotel or hospitality finance, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Previous experience as a Controller or Finance Director in Mexico, preferably with an internationally branded hotel.
• Strong background in Food & Beverage finance and multi‑outlet hotel operations.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish; additional languages a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Familiarity with USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry).
