Facilities Engineer

About the role

Facilities Engineers at Corning work with cross‑functional teams to solve complex technical and engineering challenges. The role supports continuous improvement, new product introductions and cost‑reduction initiatives while ensuring high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day problem‑solving support to production, development and research operations.
• Train operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes.
• Build detailed technical understanding of key process steps using rigorous methods.
• Lead or participate in focused projects, troubleshooting material, process and equipment issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Implement and document material, process or equipment changes, applying statistical tools and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Assure quality, repeatability and safety of processes and products.
• Support new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation and training.
• Execute cost‑reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects aligned with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Yellow Belt training in Lean Six Sigma; Green Belt certification is desired.
• Proven track record of delivering results in a technical field.
• Experience working on project teams; supervisory or team‑lead experience is a plus.
• Summer internship or progressive engineering experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis and use of simple statistical tools.
• Design of Experiments (DOE) for process problem solving.
• Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Yellow Belt, Green Belt).
• Process improvement techniques (DMAIC).
• Material, process and equipment troubleshooting.
