Functional Safety Engineer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to lead the development and implementation of safety concepts for autonomous robotic and vehicle control systems. The role is fully remote and involves ensuring that safety requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop functional safety concepts, requirements and processes for autonomous systems.
• Perform safety analyses such as HARA, STPA, FMEA and FTA to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineering teams to embed safety requirements into designs.
• Lead safety verification, validation, testing, audits and compliance activities in line with industry standards.
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation, safety cases, reports and regulatory compliance records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in functional safety engineering within robotics, automotive, autonomous or other safety‑critical industries.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, UL 4600, ISO 13849 and ISO 25119.
• Proven ability to work with safety‑critical systems and follow the safety lifecycle.
• Advanced English communication skills.
