Java Backend Developer

About the role

Cognizant is looking for an experienced Java Backend Developer to join its growing digital services team in Mexico. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with cross‑functional groups to design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Python.
• Build, enhance, and support RESTful APIs, microservices, and GraphQL services.
• Deploy cloud‑native solutions and implement CI/CD pipelines with infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and operations teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong command of English (advanced level).
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment across multiple Mexican locations.
