Junior Body Design & Release Engineer

About the role

ALTEN Mexico, an engineering consultancy group, is hiring a Junior Body Design & Release Engineer for its Closures division in Querétaro. The engineer designs, develops and releases structural and mechanical components for removable vehicle tops, working with manufacturing and testing teams and suppliers so that designs are feasible, compliant with automotive regulations and meet performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Interface with the product design office, vehicle development, exterior and body engineering teams and suppliers to design, develop and release components and systems.
• Provide feasibility input for designs coming from PDO concepts, sketches and clay models.
• Contribute to quality, weight, cost and efficiency improvements, and communicate technical product status to management.
• Develop functional objectives, build objectives, DVP&R and DFMEA, and manage the production supplier to meet requirements.
• Release completed geometry using NX Teamcenter CAD tools.

Required profile

• Experience designing and developing body-in-white, closures, hard and soft tops, door glass, door modules and tonneau covers.
• Knowledge of high-strength steel and aluminium forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T.
• Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R, and with creating and editing bills of materials.
• Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and/or Green/Black Belt is a plus.

Required skills

• ExposureCAD with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment.
• Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• CAE and CFD knowledge is a plus; CATIA V5 knowledge is also a plus.
