Junior SRE Engineer – Guadalajara

About the role

Join a US‑based data engineering and cloud technologies firm as a Junior SRE Engineer embedded in a financial services client’s reliability team. You will work on a regulated consumer‑lending platform on AWS, leveraging AI‑driven incident triage and monitoring tools.

Key responsibilities

• Support incident response as a shadow or secondary responder using AI‑driven detection and root‑cause analysis tools.
• Build incident timelines from metrics, logs, traces and deployment history, and document post‑mortems.
• Operate and monitor AI SRE sub‑agents, flagging anomalies for senior review.
• Create and maintain Datadog monitors, dashboards and SLO definitions as code with Terraform.
• Reduce alert noise with AI/ML‑assisted detection and perform monitor‑hygiene reviews.
• Support day‑to‑day reliability of AWS workloads (ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, ALB, SQS/SNS, Step Functions).
• Identify capacity, saturation and cloud‑cost anomalies and attribute spend to owning teams.
• Write automation scripts in Python and Bash and contribute Terraform modules via pull requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years experience in SRE, DevOps, cloud infrastructure or production‑support engineering.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Hands‑on exposure to AWS services across compute, networking, storage and managed databases.
• Familiarity with at least one observability platform (Datadog preferred).

Required skills

• AWS (ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, ALB, SQS/SNS, Step Functions).
• Datadog monitoring and dashboarding.
• Terraform (IaC) and basic Ansible/CloudFormation knowledge.
• Python and Bash scripting, REST API consumption.
• Docker, container orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes).
• Linux troubleshooting and networking fundamentals.
• Git, pull‑request workflows and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
• Incident management tools (PagerDuty, Opsgenie) and on‑call processes.
