Lead Mechanical Engineer – Electric Rotating Machines

About the role

Join Wabtec's best‑in‑class Electric Rotating Machines Engineering team as a Lead Mechanical Engineer. You will work with cross‑functional groups to design, develop, and support electric machines for rail, off‑highway, and drill applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, test, and integrate motors and alternators, ensuring compliance with business standards and program requirements.
• Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with global teams on projects that address organizational initiatives.
• Validate new components and sub‑assemblies, author and release drawings and specifications.
• Generate engineering documents such as DFMEA, design review materials, purchase specifications, meeting notes, and technical visuals.
• Document and communicate technical results according to engineering policies.
• Participate as presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
• Lead new product introductions, reliability, and productivity improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience working in engineering labs, workshops, and office environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lb as required.
• Legal authorization to work in Mexico.

Required skills

• Mechanical design of motors and alternators.
• DFMEA creation and analysis.
• Preparation of design review materials and purchase specifications.
• Technical documentation and drawing release.
• English proficiency for technical communication.
