Logistics & Intermodal Manager – Mexico City

About the role

We are an international shipping company seeking a Logistics & Intermodal Manager to oversee rail, truck and barge transportation activities in Mexico City. The role ensures seamless cargo movement, operational efficiency, cost optimisation and high levels of customer satisfaction across key corridors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute intermodal planning strategies integrating rail, truck and barge with the ocean network.
• Coordinate with inland carriers and terminals to guarantee timely, cost‑effective cargo movement.
• Monitor and manage inland container flows to avoid congestion, demurrage or detention.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with intermodal service providers and evaluate vendor performance against KPIs.
• Liaise with internal teams (ocean operations, customer service, documentation) to align inland activities with vessel schedules.
• Track real‑time intermodal moves, proactively addressing disruptions or delays.
• Optimise transport costs while maintaining service quality; analyse cost data and propose reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, safety, legal and environmental standards.
• Support customer service by providing visibility on container movements and resolving escalated operational issues.
• Maintain performance dashboards for KPIs such as on‑time performance, cost per move and carrier reliability; prepare regular management reports.
• Develop logistics strategies, oversee depots, transportation and distribution activities, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics partners, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Monitor logistics performance metrics, develop budgets and manage logistics costs to ensure profitability.
• Lead, mentor and develop the logistics team, and assist in procurement processes to meet intermodal budget targets.
