Marine Pipelines Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Marine Pipelines Specialist to ensure the integrity, safety and operational efficiency of subsea pipelines for a leading oil & gas client in Campeche, Mexico. The role involves overseeing design, installation, inspection and maintenance of pipelines in a highly regulated offshore environment.

Key responsibilities

• Select materials and specifications, including specialized steels and corrosion‑resistant coatings.
• Perform structural analysis for hydrodynamic loads, internal pressure and wave action.
• Design mechanical protection systems against external damage such as anchors and fishing gear.
• Analyze hydrocarbon behavior under subsea conditions and manage hydrate/paraffin risks.
• Implement and supervise cathodic protection systems (sacrificial anodes or impressed current).
• Oversee installation methods (J‑lay, S‑lay, reel‑lay) and supervise ROV‑based subsea inspections.
• Plan and execute critical repairs using clamps, composite materials and specialized offshore techniques.
• Ensure compliance with API, ISO 13628, ASME B31.4/B31.8, MARPOL, DNV GL, ABS and Bureau Veritas standards.
• Develop contingency plans, conduct HAZID/HAZOP/FMEA risk analyses and manage emergency response.
• Supervise SCADA systems, implement predictive maintenance with intelligent pigging and integrate IoT sensors.
• Lead geotechnical and oceanographic studies to support pipeline routing and stability.
• Optimize lifecycle costs and promote technological innovation, including hydrogen‑ready pipeline concepts.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience in subsea pipeline engineering, construction, operation or maintenance.
• Fluent Spanish and advanced English.
• Willingness to work offshore and travel frequently to platforms.
• Valid Seaman’s Book and relevant offshore safety certifications.

Required skills

• Knowledge of API, ISO 13628, ASME B31.4/B31.8, DNV GL, ABS, Bureau Veritas standards.
• Cathodic protection and advanced corrosion‑prevention techniques.
• Subsea inspection and ROV operations.

• SCADA systems, IoT applications and remote monitoring.
• Predictive maintenance, intelligent pigging and instrumented pigs.
• Geotechnical and oceanographic analysis (bathymetry, seabed stability).
• Engineering software: AutoCAD, ANSYS, OLGA, PIPESIM.
• Risk analysis methods: HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA.
