Mechanical Design Engineer – Header Steel Solutions

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dematic’s Global Project Engineering organization, you will design and deliver header steel support solutions that enable automation systems to be securely hung from building structures. You will work with project teams and customers to ensure designs are on‑time, on‑budget, and meet all technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Gather project information (building design, system design, customer requirements) to develop header steel support solutions.
• Create and verify CAD models, calculate point loads, and produce BOMs.
• Generate installation drawings for simple single‑line conveyors to complex multi‑level systems.
• Lead or support mechanical drawing production, including structural elements, composites, safety, pneumatic, guarding, and netting.
• Conduct quality audits, support cross‑audits, and revise deliverables as needed.
• Communicate progress, remove roadblocks, and coordinate a small team of engineers.
• Manage budgets and track project performance.
• Travel to customer sites when required.

Required profile

• Experience performing the full range of professional mechanical design work.
• Ability to ensure on‑time delivery and solve complex technical problems.
• Strong communication skills to report status to peers, project leads, and managers.
• Responsibility for continuous improvement impacting productivity and customer satisfaction.
• Capability to coordinate and mentor less‑experienced engineers.
• Willingness to travel to multiple customer locations.

• Proficiency with CAD software (Dematic’s CAD platform).
• Structural analysis and point‑load calculations.
