Mechatronics Design and Release Engineer - Roof Systems

About the role

ALTEN Mexico is looking for a Mechatronics Design and Release Engineer based in Querétaro to cover the Roof Systems area. The engineer owns each component end to end, from design through production release, working with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design and development of interior systems and to improve the design and release processes. The position is full-time, requires 1+ years of experience and B2-C1 English; a valid visa is optional.

Key responsibilities

• Component design, development, packaging, and production release of roof systems
• Collaborate with PDO and Sciences, and run Design Verification Plan and Report (DVPR) testing
• Maintain bills of materials and manage CAD models in Teamcenter
• Support prototype and production builds, and handle issues and change management
• Drive weight, cost and efficiency improvements
• Report technical product status to management
• Support vehicle assembly plants on product technical issues and support-service teams on field warranty issues and root cause analysis
• Work with suppliers to meet program and electrical development timing and deliverables

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or MBA
• 1 to 3 years reviewing, validating and releasing designs for automotive components (roof systems)
• Mechatronics experience on manual park release, active damping air suspension, switches, sensors, lighting, seats, mirrors, power hatch, liftgate, sunroof and power top
• General knowledge of switches, seat controls, sensors and electrical functions, including electronic diagrams, software and durability and thermal testing
• Intermediate-advanced English

• NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter
• DFM, PBOM/eBOM, DVP&R and technical sheet management
• DFMEA, DVP&R creation and execution
• Electrical module hardware and software development
• Preferred: Tier 1 supplier and OEM experience, style freeze and theme evaluation, in-plant experience, IATF 16949
