R&D Planning Project Manager – R&D Portfolio

About the role

The R&D Planning Project Manager will steer a €1B R&D portfolio, delivering high‑quality planning, transparent budgeting, and decision support for the Executive Board. The role combines strategic portfolio management, process excellence, and data‑driven analytics to align investments with corporate strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the global R&D budget cycle and produce scenario‑ready decision documents for senior leadership.
• Steer the R&D portfolio against strategy, identifying acceleration, rebalancing, or reduction opportunities and crafting clear executive storylines.
• Deliver concise analyses that synthesize financials, technology value, and portfolio dynamics.
• Advance functional excellence by standardising business case logic, improving data governance, and automating planning/reporting processes, including AI‑based solutions.
• Build and scale data products, dashboards, and analytics workflows linked to the central R&D database.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for the R&D database, ensuring it remains the single source of truth.
• Support strategic initiatives such as the R&D Academy to foster capability building.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Data/Analytics or related field (PhD a plus).
• 5–7 years of experience in R&D portfolio management, corporate strategy, controlling, PMO or similar.
• Experience in energy, industrial technology, aerospace, automotive or management consulting is beneficial.
• Fluent English.
