Remote Structural Steel Estimator

About the role

Our client, a growing commercial structural steel fabrication and installation company in the United States, is seeking a Remote Structural Steel Estimator. This full‑time position will work closely with company leadership to produce accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication projects, enabling efficient project management and business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel, miscellaneous steel, stairs, handrails, and pre‑engineered metal building installations.
• Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and manual mark‑ups.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier quotations for steel packages and subcontracted work.
• Apply company estimating methodologies, labor rates, overhead, and target profit margins.
• Maintain organized bid documentation and support project transition after contract award.
• Utilize estimating and construction management tools such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, and similar platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3–12+ years of U.S. commercial construction estimating experience, with direct experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Proven ability to obtain vendor quotations and manage material pricing.
• Excellent English communication and strong analytical attention to detail.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week during U.S. Central Time business hours.
