Restaurant Accountant with QuickBooks Online Expertise

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented accountant to support our restaurant clients. You will work remotely with Howard Financial’s finance team, handling day‑to‑day bookkeeping, reconciliations and cost tracking for hospitality businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and categorize expenses in QuickBooks Online on a daily basis.
• Reconcile daily POS sales reports with cash deposits, credit‑card payouts and delivery‑app payouts.
• Process vendor invoices, manage accounts payable and ensure timely payments.
• Track food‑and‑beverage COGS and labor costs to monitor key restaurant metrics.
• Perform month‑end bank and credit‑card statement reconciliations and generate basic P&L reports for owners/managers.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in the restaurant/hospitality sector.
• Strong, practical experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday‑Friday, and ability to work as an independent contractor.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment and eager to grow.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online (QBO) proficiency.
• Familiarity with restaurant POS integrations such as Toast, Clover or Square.
• Understanding of restaurant‑specific finances including tips, vendor management and food cost accounting.
