Sales Account Manager – Freight Forwarding & Transportation

About the role

The Sales Account Manager will be the primary strategic and operational contact for key customers using freight forwarding (air, ocean, land) and transportation management services. You will ensure global supply‑chain execution meets strict KPIs while developing long‑term relationships and identifying growth opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day communication with international and domestic cargo accounts to guarantee operational excellence and high customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with ocean/air import‑export, customs brokerage, domestic dispatch and carrier teams for seamless end‑to‑end execution.
• Analyze transit times, container utilization, carrier performance and lane costs; prepare reports and lead regular business reviews.
• Act as escalation point for supply‑chain disruptions, customs delays, port congestion or carrier issues.
• Develop strategic account plans to retain clients, optimise route networks and drive organic growth through upselling.
• Support freight rate benchmarking, tender reviews, spot‑quote approvals and contract renewal negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with global trade regulations and local customs mandates in Mexico.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or related field.
• 3–5 years of account management or logistics operations experience in a freight forwarding or 3PL environment.
• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).

Required skills

• Strong understanding of multi‑modal transport (air, ocean, FTL, LTL) and international shipping documentation (Incoterms, Bill of Lading, AWB, Pedimentos).
• Excellent negotiation, communication and crisis‑management abilities.
• High proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and freight cost modelling.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint for presentations.
