Senior Accountant

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Controller’s group within the LAC Finance division in Mexico. The role will support the accurate accounting treatment of customer business agreements and ensure compliance with Mastercard policies, US GAAP and local statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accounting advice, discuss and validate accounting treatments for regional teams and stakeholders.
• Execute and monitor month‑end close activities and coordinate with the Global Business Services Center to ensure accurate results.
• Guide financial decisions related to business transactions by delivering accounting and regulatory guidance.
• Support, monitor and enforce operational and SOX financial controls to maintain a strong control environment.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, prepare financial reports and advise management on necessary actions.
• Contribute to special projects, ad‑hoc reporting and analysis with a strong customer‑service focus.
• Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience providing accounting advice and guidance.
• Hands‑on experience executing month‑end close processes.
• Demonstrated ability to support SOX financial controls.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams such as FP&A, Business Development Finance, Legal and Regional Finance.
