Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir, AI‑first)

About the role

Peek is looking for a senior backend engineer who loves crafting beautiful, functional customer experiences and tackling complex integration and payment challenges. You will work on large‑scale, AI‑first systems using Elixir and help shape the future of our connectivity platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own critical product areas such as third‑party integrations, the Peek Pro “App Store”, and payments‑related initiatives.
• Design and operate complex agent‑orchestration systems that leverage AI tools to accelerate development.
• Collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver scalable, reliable backend services for scheduling, booking, and custom enterprise solutions.

Required profile

• Strong backend fundamentals in Elixir, including API design, data modeling, SQL, service reliability, and production debugging.
• Proven ability to evaluate AI‑generated code critically, catching logic errors, security issues, and maintainability concerns.
• Clear communicator who flags specification gaps, articulates technical choices, and drives ownership from conception to production.

Required skills

• Elixir (5+ years professional experience)
• GraphQL APIs
• MySQL and general SQL proficiency
• Message queues such as RabbitMQ
• AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or equivalents)
• Microservices architecture
