Senior Buyer – Procurement & Supply Chain

About the role

The Senior Buyer will manage procurement activities for an electronics manufacturing environment, ensuring timely and cost‑effective acquisition of materials and components. This role works closely with suppliers, internal teams, and the ERP system to support production and new product introduction.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily interaction with the supply base to obtain up‑to‑date information on open purchase orders, lead times, and pricing.
• Create and execute purchase orders according to MRP planned orders, securing competitive pricing while protecting profitability.
• Identify and develop new suppliers to improve cost, delivery, and quality performance.
• Approve invoices, expedite deliveries, and coordinate alternate sourcing when required.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain management to set cost‑saving goals and implement plans.
• Use weekly MRP action messages to place, reschedule, expedite or cancel orders and keep MRP data current.
• Maintain supplier information in the ERP system, including pricing, lead times, MOQ and specification changes.
• Work with Quality Assurance on material review board (MRB) issues and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
• Partner with Accounting to resolve accounts‑payable discrepancies.
• Generate and monitor KPI reports such as purchase price variance, late deliveries and expediting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
• At least 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a maquiladora electronics manufacturing setting.
• Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is required.
• Proven track record of reducing external spend, inventory excess and developing a robust supplier base.
• Experience with kanban and supplier‑managed inventory is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Hands‑on experience with MRP systems.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for supplier data management.
• Knowledge of kanban and supplier‑managed inventory processes.
