Senior Software Engineer

About the role

PayJoy, a public benefit corporation providing secured credit to under-served customers in emerging markets, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The engineer builds technology for its cell phone-locking system, data-driven risk modeling for financial products, internal tools and partner API integrations, writing clean, functional code that ensures system consistency and a good user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain user-friendly software applications using front-end and back-end technologies
• Work with development teams and product managers to develop software solutions
• Collaborate on client-side and server-side architecture
• Conduct code reviews and give feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues so they are resolved promptly
• Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to improve software development processes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, software engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in full-stack software development, project management and in-depth knowledge of programming languages and databases, including unit tests
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; willingness to work in a team, including code review, pair programming, collaboration on tasks, mentoring or being mentored

Required skills

• Front-end and back-end technologies, JavaScript and SQL
• Vue.js or React, PHP, Python or native Android experience is a plus
• Familiarity with designing, configuring and optimizing CI/CD pipelines is a plus
