Senior Tax Specialist – LACAR Region

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Tax Specialist for the LACAR region, based in Mexico City. The role combines tax reporting, compliance and advisory responsibilities within a hybrid work setting, supporting the company’s global finance objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review the tax reporting package, ensuring compliance with Alcon’s Manual of Accounting (IFRS) and global tax requirements for the LACAR region.
• Oversee all tax compliance matters, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes, withholding taxes, stamp duties, capital gains taxes and transfer pricing.
• Manage tax account reconciliations and guarantee accurate tax accounting and reporting.
• Identify, monitor and mitigate tax risks, maintaining documented processes, policies and controls to support SOX certification.
• Provide expert tax advice to internal stakeholders and coordinate with external tax advisors.
• Serve as the single point of contact for tax authorities, manage legal tax processes and support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with finance, legal and cross‑functional teams on tax planning and compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s or advanced degree in Tax or Accounting preferred.
• 5+ years of tax experience with a strong focus on compliance and accounting.
• Minimum 3 years in a tax department of a multinational corporation, preferably in the medical or pharmaceutical sector.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and financial controls affecting taxes.
