Should Cost Engineer – Die Casting, Stamping, Heavy Metal

About the role

Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Should Cost Engineer to develop and enhance cost models for die‑casting, stamping, and heavy‑metal components. The role supports sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing teams by providing accurate cost assessments and driving cost‑reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and continuously update should‑cost models for all product categories.
• Produce detailed cost‑breakdown reports and support VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) projects.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for manufacturing processes such as die‑casting, stamping, and heavy‑metal fabrication.
• Collaborate with sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing to provide cost data for supplier negotiations.
• Identify cost‑out and mitigation opportunities during NPI and product development phases.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical analyses for should‑cost initiatives.
• Report project status, risks, and roadblocks to business leaders.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of value‑engineering tools and component cost structures.
• Experience with cost‑management software, preferably aPriori.
• Proven ability to produce accurate should‑cost estimates for assemblies and components.
• Strong analytical skills to support negotiation activities and cost‑reduction strategies.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
