Strategic Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Dematic is looking for a Strategic Buyer to join its Procurement Supply Chain Solutions team. The role focuses on sourcing direct materials for a range of categories, including metal fabrication, electronics, motors, belts, and plastics, supporting the spares‑parts environment across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cost‑reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, value engineering, and supplier consolidation.
• Identify and implement sourcing solutions that balance quality, delivery performance, and pricing.
• Conduct supply‑base risk analyses, define mitigation strategies, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Support new project quotation processes and coordinate pricing reviews with cross‑functional teams.
• Partner with Customer Service, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Manufacturing to achieve aligned procurement results.
• Research, assess, and select suppliers; manage onboarding and lead Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Configure SAP sourcing parameters to ensure accurate purchase order issuance.
• Track and forecast savings to meet departmental goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in direct procurement or commodities sourcing.
• Familiarity with the five‑step sourcing methodology, RFQs, and total cost of ownership analysis.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using SAP for procurement processes.
• Understanding and interpretation of CAD drawings.
• APICS CPIM certification (preferred).
