Tailings Engineer – Mexico

About the role

The Tailings Engineer will support the analysis, design and review of mining infrastructure such as tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps and heap leach pads across all project phases. You will work closely with senior and junior team members in the Mine Waste Solutions practice, providing technical input from concept studies through detailed design and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, design and review tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, heap leach pads and related systems.
• Act as Engineer of Record, overseeing design documentation and compliance.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality and timely delivery of project outputs.
• Conduct technical reviews of engineering reports, analyses and designs.
• Contribute to client proposals and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Support field investigation programmes and interpret laboratory testing results.
• Engage with clients from early‑stage studies through operations and closure.
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge on geotechnical and tailings design methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mining, Geological Engineering or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset.
• Solid experience designing mining facilities (TSFs, WRDs, heap leach pads).
• Strong understanding of international guidelines such as CDA, GISTM and ICOLD.
• Experience with field investigations and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Familiarity with TSF operations and construction supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Spanish is a plus.
