Tax Specialist Accountant

About the role

The Tax Specialist Accountant will ensure the plant’s fiscal, accounting, and regulatory compliance by applying Mexican tax, social security, and foreign‑trade legislation. The role supports financial integrity, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation for a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately fulfill federal, state, and municipal tax obligations, including income tax, VAT, and payroll contributions.
• Manage obligations with IMSS, INFONAVIT, and other social‑security entities.
• Lead the VAT refund process from preparation to follow‑up with authorities.
• Prepare and submit INEGI questionnaires and other government statistical reports.
• Support audits and reviews by tax and social‑security authorities.
• Provide technical tax advice to management and assist internal finance processes.
• Stay current with Mexican tax legislation and regulatory updates.
• Collaborate with external advisors, auditors, and customs authorities to ensure timely, documented responses.
• Identify and implement improvements to internal tax processes to reduce risk and increase efficiency.

Required profile

• University degree in Public Accounting (required); Master’s in Taxation or Accounting (preferred).
• 5‑6 years of tax compliance and accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or maquiladora settings.
• Proven experience with VAT refunds, government reporting, foreign‑trade compliance, INEGI questionnaires, and IMMEX program requirements.
• Professional communication skills in Spanish and English.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and social‑security tax regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP system.
