Tax Specialist & General Accounting

About the role

As a Tax Specialist at MKS, you will work closely with the internal finance team, external auditors and the customs department to ensure compliance with Mexican local, state and federal tax regulations, as well as IMMEX and VAT certification programs. You will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a key role in the company’s tax strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal and state tax returns and calculate tax liabilities.
• Generate compliance reports such as DIOT, INEGI and electronic accounting submissions.
• Review payroll-related taxes including IMSS, Guarderías and INFONAVIT.
• Perform account reconciliations and balance‑sheet liability calculations.
• Conduct Safe Harbor and transfer‑pricing calculations.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Maquila environment.
• English proficiency of at least 80%.
• Experience with Safe Harbor, transfer‑pricing and SAT audits.
• Knowledge of IMMEX and VAT certification regulations.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Proficiency with Contpaq, SAP and Oracle ERP systems.
• Familiarity with SAT Portal Web and IMSS Portal Web.
• Understanding of NIF, NIIF and US GAAP accounting standards.
