About the role

The School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST) at Shanghai Tech University seeks outstanding scholars for tenure‑track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates will join a vibrant research community focused on materials, physics and chemistry, contributing to both graduate and undergraduate education.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research program in one of the SPST focus areas.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and mentor junior researchers.
• Participate in university service, outreach activities, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Secure external funding and manage research lab resources.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of research achievements and publications.
• Clear, innovative research plan and demonstrated teaching potential.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Required skills

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Smart Materials, Atomic‑level Manufacturing, Multiscale Representations, Energy Materials, Condensed Matter Physics, Computational Physics, Photonics, Theoretical Physics, Astrophysics, Chemical Biology, Physical Chemistry, Catalytic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry.
• Ability to design and conduct high‑impact experiments or simulations.
• Proficiency in scientific communication and curriculum development.
