Transitional Teacher – Elementary

About the role

The Transitional Teacher (Elementary) provides classroom instruction at the professional level, either as a primary teacher, team teacher, or in remedial/special services settings. This role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating instructional activities in accordance with school guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study.
• Select, adapt, and implement instructional methods and resources to support academic achievement.
• Assess individual and group progress using criterion‑reference tests, standardized tests, oral exams, and other evaluation tools.
• Maintain accurate records, generate progress reports, and communicate regularly with parents and stakeholders.
• Manage classroom discipline independently, providing counseling and support as needed.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Male applicants born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
• Successful completion of a background security investigation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to enroll in an Alternative Licensure program to obtain and maintain state teacher certification, with provisional status for three contract terms.
