Transportation Buyer / Logistics Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Transportation Buyer is a regional procurement specialist responsible for sourcing and managing transportation and logistics services across Yazaki North America. The role focuses on optimizing costs, improving supplier performance, and ensuring continuity of supply for the company's logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for road, sea, and air transportation modes.
• Identify and implement cost‑reduction, quality, and service improvement opportunities.
• Research, select, and contract competitive transportation providers.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms.
• Lead improvement workshops and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Process requisitions, track order status, and communicate updates to management.
• Support the identification and integration of new suppliers and services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Foreign Trade, Engineering (ME, EE, IE) or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics and indirect purchasing.
• Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics operations and indirect procurement processes.
• Proven ability to evaluate suppliers on cost, quality, service, and reliability.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage projects independently and make business decisions.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional and global teams.
