Upper School Humanities Teacher (2026-27)

About the role

The American School Foundation is seeking a passionate Upper School Humanities Teacher for the 2026‑27 academic year. The role focuses on fostering critical and creative thinking through engaging instruction in World History, U.S. History, and Geography, while supporting students’ research and investigative skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver culturally competent, student‑centered lesson plans and assessments.
• Facilitate inquiry‑based learning that develops critical thinking, questioning, researching, and communication skills.
• Promote collaborative classroom practices and respect for diverse viewpoints.
• Engage with the broader school community, including colleagues, parents, and administrators.
• Contribute to a vibrant, inclusive learning environment for culturally diverse students.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum two years of experience teaching at the secondary level.
• Comfort working with upper‑school adolescents and a genuine appreciation for their development.
• Flexibility, optimism, and a collaborative spirit.
• Experience with IB programmes is strongly preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Conversational Spanish (preferred, not required).
