Commodity Manager – New Product Development

About the role

Under the direction of the Procurement Director, the Commodity Manager supports sourcing of components, assemblies, and tooling for New Product Development, cost‑reduction and supply‑improvement projects. The role balances quality, cost, lead time and terms while delivering to project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities for initial phases of new product qualification and introduction across North America Milwaukee Tool facilities.
• Prepare and execute RFP/RFQ processes, analyse quotations and conduct cost‑breakdown analysis for per‑unit, tooling and NRE costs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (engineers, finance, supplier quality, manufacturing) to meet aggressive timelines.
• Provide ongoing vendor management including forecasts, purchase orders, invoice resolution and quality issue handling.
• Monitor supplier capacity, global demand and quality during initial production start‑up and travel to supplier or production sites as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in procurement or commodity management, preferably in power‑tools or industrial products.
• Strong negotiation skills and proven success managing complex supply contracts.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical and presentation abilities; ability to work through ambiguity.
• Fluent English; willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
